Dan Woods Honored With 29th Annual Bill Dane Award
Longview, Washington – On September 4th, 2024, Paratransit Services was honored to recognize Dan Woods as the recipient of the 2023 Bill Dane Award.
The Board of Directors established the Bill Dane Award in 1995, in recognition of William R. Dane’s contribution to Paratransit Services. During his 5 years of employment, until he retired at the age of 85. Bill Dane was recognized as an “Ambassador” of Paratransit Services. He is well remembered by those who worked with and knew him for his, exemplary performance, professional demeanor, dedication, and for the songs he sang regularly to his passengers.
Dan Woods has been with Paratransit Services for six years and eight months as an on-call driver. However, his is stellar personality and “can do” attitude have not gone unnoticed. He is always asking how he can help and if there is anything we need. He always goes above and beyond to explain different processes to other drivers and clients when they are on the bus. He truly exemplifies everything this award stands for.
General Manager, Sheila Harmon, had this to share about Mr. Woods:
“All of our client’s praise him as he goes out of his way to be helpful and kind to everyone. He takes his time getting to know each client and understand each of their needs and treats them all with absolute respect and a happy face. When he isn’t making conversation with a client he is always happily humming or singing to himself or just to the bus in general. He is always eager to help and always a ray of sunshine in the office. We joke that it’s Dan to the rescue again! As he leaves out for his day, he sings, “On the road again, just can’t wait to be on the road again”. Interactions with Dan always make us smile and laugh and he is such a pleasure to have around. His positivity and bright smile are infectious and lifts the spirits of anyone he comes in contact with.”
The awards presentation was held at our RiverCities LIFT location in Longview, Washington. Chairman of the Board, Brian McConaughy, presented Mr. Woods with his award. CEO/President of Paratransit Services, David Baker, and Director of Safety, Training, and Operations, Bill Kluth, also made the trip from the corporate office to honor Mr. Woods.
